Connecting Labs, Imaging, and Other Tools
How VetOS talks to your lab machines, imaging software, and other systems you already use.
What you will learn
- •Know which lab providers, imaging systems, and payment processors connect to VetOS
- •Understand the full lifecycle of a lab order: from VetOS to the lab and back
- •See how imaging results and documents are stored in the patient record
- •Learn about the PetMayday and PetLifeLog integrations for lost-pet alerts and microchip registration
Lab integrations: send orders, receive results
VetOS integrates with major veterinary lab providers. When a veterinarian orders bloodwork, a urinalysis, or any other lab test, they do it right from the patient's Lab Orders tab. The order is sent electronically to the lab — no paper forms, no fax machines, no phone calls.
When the lab finishes processing the sample, results come back electronically and VetOS automatically attaches them to the correct patient record. The vet gets a notification, and the results are immediately available in the patient's chart. No re-typing, no transcription errors.
If results come back with a patient identifier that does not exactly match (for example, a slightly different spelling of the pet name), VetOS flags it for a human to review rather than guessing. This prevents results from being accidentally attached to the wrong patient.
Imaging: X-rays, ultrasound, and dental
VetOS includes an imaging integration layer that can receive and store images from X-ray machines, ultrasound equipment, and dental imaging systems. Images are stored directly in the patient record and linked to the visit where they were taken.
The vet can view images from the patient detail page, zoom in, add annotations, and compare with previous images from the same patient. All of this is part of the permanent record.
Payment processing
VetOS connects to standard credit card terminals and payment services for processing payments at checkout. The Checkout screen (in the Operations section of the sidebar) handles point-of-sale transactions, and the Billing screen tracks everything: invoices, payments, partial payments, refunds, and payment plans.
Every payment is recorded as a permanent event in both the patient's billing history and the clinic's financial records. The Financial Reports tab in Billing gives you real-time visibility into revenue, outstanding balances, and collections.
PetMayday and PetLifeLog: the PROVENIQ ecosystem
VetOS is part of the PROVENIQ ecosystem, which includes PetMayday (a missing-pet alert network) and PetLifeLog (a universal pet health registry and microchip registration system). These integrations are available from the sidebar: Lost/Found connects to PetMayday, and microchip data can be shared with PetLifeLog.
If a pet is reported missing through PetMayday, any clinic running VetOS will see an alert if that pet comes in for treatment. If a pet's microchip is scanned at any PROVENIQ-connected clinic or shelter, the owner can be identified and contacted.
These integrations are optional — your clinic decides what to share and with whom. But for practices that want to be part of a broader safety net for pets, the ecosystem connections are already built in.
Requesting a new integration
If you use a tool or system that is not connected yet, contact your VetOS support team. They will assess compatibility and set up the connection. Most standard veterinary integrations can be added without disrupting your daily operations.
The integration is always done safely: VetOS never sends patient data to a third party without proper configuration and your explicit approval. And every data exchange is logged in the Audit Log.
